Rain splashed hard on his face
this wasnt something new to him.
Night after night he sent people six feet under
murdered wives, hurt lovers, old couples, happy infants,
he had seen them all.
They all spoke a tale to him
each one of them, as he dug on.
In his mind as he chanted prayers for them
they shared their last wishes with him.
Forty years they had been his closest,
Easter, Christmas or New year
someone always brought him there
to celebrate with all of them.
But tonight was different
the rain seemed to be mourning.
Someone is going to come here
his heart said, feeling heavy.
He dug on, six centimetres, six hundred ,
as he dug, his palms sweating,
he wondered, who'd fill this six feet.
A second later his answer was there,
inside the six feet, with the shovel and eyes filled with shock .
