The Traveller

As the sun set upon his bedside that evening,
the traveller knew that he had covered another milestone...
for him each sun set and sun rise brought a new lease of life and a newer page to turn and read on.

For years his journey had been on.. his short destinations seemed alike,
but only he knew the sea of difference from one to another.

Today he had explored an unknown territory..
he had never expected to find himself there.
In all his travels, he had known where he was headed...
but this one time he thought that his feet should be given some credit,
for all those years of travel..

The night before his new journey he went to bed unsure yet excited...
A new journey awaited him...
a land where he had never set foot...
He had abondoned his compass, because today..
his feet would do the job...

Bathed in the blue light of that inky night ,
he put his feet to rest...
As the suns rays gentled teased him out of his slumber...
he readied himself for the first day of hs life...

Hoisting his bag firmly on his back,
he stood outside his shack...
the air new and hs breathe newer, he smiled an innocent smile..

closing his eyes for an instant ,
he waited for his feet to rise up...
and after what seemed like ages, he set foot to his left...

his journey took him to new places,
where the stones, pebbles and sand was new...
the water glistened like flowing silver strands...
he thought this was it!!

He stood there relinquishing each gulp of water...
freshness danced through his veins..
he sat hmself under the shade of the big tree by the waters
closing his .. allowing his mind to walk back through all those roads,
he had walked, rested and fallen upon...

his mind floated like the leaf in the wind,
dancing merrily in the winds of the past...
enjoying every second of it ...
he reached out to grasp the lost time in his hands..
only to wake up to the fact that he ...
was only dreaming!

An ode to the traveller within each of us.

  2. Beautiful.
Travelling is just the most beautiful of experiences. Brings out the best of moods.
The piece reminds me a lot of The Alchemist though.
